SACRAMENTO, CA -- Today, Sacramento County Superior Court Commissioner James Morris declared his candidacy for Superior Court Judge in the June 2026 primary.
"As a Commissioner for the Superior Court, I begin every case I hear by treating people equally and with respect. Everyday I balance compassion and accountability to ensure justice is done. As a Superior Court Judge I will continue in my long-held commitment to serving the public faithfully, honestly, and humbly," said Morris.
“I have worked with Commissioner Morris since he joined the court in 2019. Over the years, I have come to highly value his judgment and expertise. He has the integrity, judicial temperament and commitment to justice our community needs and expects. I look forward to seeing James continue his outstanding service to the community as a judge of the Superior Court,” said Superior Court Judge Steve White.
Commissioner Morris's dedication to public service began when he joined the Air Force. He served in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. After six years of active duty he advanced to become a noncommissioned officer before his separation. After school, Commissioner Morris was a deputy district attorney in Lassen and Nevada Counties. He has served as a Sacramento County Court Commissioner and as a Criminal Law Research Attorney.
